Dr Jen Shek Wei excelled in the Singapore school system and was placed in the “Scholar's Platoon” during his National Service days. He completed his basic medical degree in Singapore in Year 1979, having won numerous book prizes. After completing his National Service with distinction in 1982, he completed his post-graduate training in Singapore and the United Kingdom in 1984 and 1985 respectively.
Dr Jen worked as an Obstetrician& Gynaecologist in the Kandang Kerbau Hospital (now known as KK Women's and Children's Hospital), Toa Payoh Hospital and the University Unit of the National University of Singapore from 1985. In recognition of his medical contributions, he was elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Singapore in November 1988 - an official certification of a specialty status in Singapore .
Wishing to serve the people of Singapore directly, Dr Jen was one of the first few Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G) Specialists not to open a clinic along Orchard Road , but instead opened clinics in the “heartlands” from 1988. First, he opened a clinic in Ang Mo Kio, and another in Tampines. His clinics have been busy from the beginning and he has been in continuous private practice since 1988.
Having published many academic articles in his area of specialty, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists in London in 1999 - an official recognition given only to Senior Specialists who have actively practiced O&G for at least 15 years and are judged to have advanced the science and art of Obstetrics and Gynaecology by a panel of expert peers from London.
Although Dr Jen's background is in O&G, which he has been practising for more than 25 years, he also has a special interest in the field of aesthetics. Due to demand for aesthetic services from female patients, Dr Jen provides cosmaceutical, Botox and Dermal Fillers as an adjunct to his usual O&G practice. He is a fully accredited laser practitioner since 1991, with more than 15 years' experience in the use of medical lasers.
Dr Jen has decided to advance his aesthetic practice by obtaining a Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (USA) in 2006. Since then, he has also obtained advanced Dermal Filler training in the United Kingdom , advanced Radio Frequency Thermage training in London , advanced Liposuction combined with Abdominoplasty in Portugal , and advanced Fractional Laser Facial Rejuvenation in Korea .
Dr Jen is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine . Soon, he shall undergo further advanced Fractional Laser Facial Rejuvenation in California , USA and Taiwan .
